How to keep hair healthy
Our hair is considered as our crowning glory. You can wear a simple outfit and still look fabulous with the perfect coif. Just like our body, our hair needs some TLC in order to look fresh, vibrant and healthy. Here are some tips on how to keep your hair at its best.
Here are some tips on how to keep your hair at its best.
1. Choose the right towel
Drying your hair with regular towel wrecks havoc onto your hair. Why? Because it causes split ends and leaves your hair feeling dry and lifeless. Opt for a microfiber towel which absorbs hair quicker than a regular towel. It is also gentler than the usual cotton towel. These towels are widely available at drugstores and beauty stores worldwide.
2. Scrimp on the conditioner
While using a conditioner is ideal, it turns into a bad thing if used excessively. Apply conditioner only on the tips and avoid bringing the product all the way to your roots as this will weigh your hair down. People with fine hair types complain about their limp and lifeless hair. Slathering on a lot of conditioners is usually the culprit. Apply conditioner every day if you tend to have oily hair. More so, look for a conditioner that is suitable for your hair type.
3. Protect your hair
If you are the type of girl who cannot leave the house without curling, ironing or blow drying your hair, you should use a heat protectant whenever you style your hair. Our hair is very fragile and so frequent use of styling tools can ruin the beauty of your mane if it is not properly taken care of. You can also give your hair a break and air dry your hair once in a while or put your hair up with a sexy ponytail or twist it in a classic bun. Your hair will definitely appreciate it.
4. Refrain from frequently washing your hair
A lot of people think that having a clean and healthy hair means washing your hair once or twice a day. If you are one of those women who wash their hair every morning and evening here is a piece of advice: STOP! Frequent hair washing will strip away the natural oils of your locks making it look dull and dry.
It would also send the message for your hair to produce more oils leaving it oily and limp at the end of the day. Wash your hair every other day to maintain its natural oils and keep it healthy. You can keep your tresses clean and fresh by using a dry shampoo or use your good old baby powder to absorb the excess oil.
5. Load up on agua
Water is essential in keeping your healthy tresses healthy and vibrant looking. Chugging on 8-10 glasses of water is recommended to flush out toxins into your body and keep your hair and skin moisturized.
6. Get a trim
Have your ends trimmed at least once every two to three months to remove that pesky split ends. Getting a trim also makes your hair look full and thick.
7. Have a healthy diet
Eating foods that are rich in protein and vitamins are recommended to prevent early signs of hair loss, split ends and keeps your hair healthy and strong.
